Also known as the Permanent Blow Dry, this treatment promises to revolutionise your hair. How I long for hair that won’t be ruined by the rain, humidity or sweat. How I long for my hair to be just naturally shiny and healthy looking. How I long for NO MORE FRIZZY HAIR! Well, now I can get it, as the Brazilian Blow Dry has come to my town!
The Brazilian Blow Dry is a Keratin based nourishing hair treatment, developed in Brazil. Keratin is the primary protein found in your hair, skin and nails, and it actually makes up 88% of your hair. By adding Keratin to your hair, your hairdresser is able to repair internal damage and it coats your hair to prevent any further damage. It doesn’t guarantee straighter hair, but it does guarantee a hairstyle that is so much easier to manage.
The process takes around 1 and a half hours – 3 hours start to finish, depending on hair length and thickness. You have your hair washed, then the Keratin protein is applied, left on then dried in. This is followed by sealing the product into the hair using special irons. The only thing you need to do is avoid Shampoos and Conditioners with Sodium Chloride in, and not wash your hair for the first 4 days, but apart from that, your hair will be transformed. It is suitable for any hair type, but it seems the best results are seen in hair that is more damaged. Results are seen immediately, with the effects fading progressively over 3-4 months. You can still curl your hair, in fact, you can style it any way you want, what you will notice is that you’ll have less frizz.
