As the year draws to a close, it is time to reflect on what has been.  2011 was the year of the celebrity wedding, starting with the wedding of the year with the bride wearing that Alexander McQueen dress.  Here’s a roundup of the years most news worthy celebrity weddings of the year:

Kate Middleton and Prince William:

It was a romance for which fairytales are written. The commoner girl finally married her Prince after ten years of waiting. (Earning her a not so nice nickname.) I’m not going to lie, I may have shed a tear or two during the Royal Wedding and I may have also let out a squeal of delight as Kate kissed her Prince on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Kate’s Alexander McQueen dress was beautifully elegant and reminiscent of Grace Kelly’s wedding dress and, like many of Kate’s other fashion choices, sparked many look-a-likes.

Sir Paul McCartney:

From actual royalty to rock royalty:  Sir Paul McCartney married his bride, Nancy Shevell Old Marylebone Town Hall where he’d married Linda McCartney in 1969.  Both the bride and groom were dressed by Stella McCartney and were photographed by Mary McCartney

Kate Moss and Jamie Hinch:

On a summer’s day in the Cotswolds, Kate Moss married The Kills rocker, Jamie Hinch. Kate’s daughter served as one of her bridesmaids, the groom wore a powder blue suit and Kate wore a sheer ivory dress by John Galliano.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries:

It was the wedding to end all weddings:  Kim Kardashian wanted a wedding which would rival that of William and Kate’s.  She had three different dresses all designed by Vera Wang and the groom, towering over her looked the part of a prince.   Unfortunately, the fairytale wedding lasted a mere 75 days.

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz:

The world was surprised when we found out our latest Bond had married in secret.  Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz were married in front of a mere four guests in an understated and private ceremony.

Lily Allen:

In a village church near her home in Gloucestershire, a pregnant Lily Allen married her love Sam Cooper.  For the ceremony, Lily donned a dress designed by Delphine Manivet and then wore a gown designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the reception.

Bella Swan and Edward Cullen:

While the pair are fictional characters, there has been a lot of build up and hype over their wedding.  Fans have been aching to know what the dress would look like.  There was so much hype in fact that there was extra security while filming to ensure no over eager fans snuck in and managed to leak photos.  The dress was designed by Carolina Herrara and has an old world feel to it and there are whispers it may have been inspired by Kate Middleton’s.
