Red Carpet events are always exciting. I love hunting through the net the following day to seek out which celebs were hot, and which were not.. And the Golden Globes is no different. Packed with A List Royalty, this award show deserves an award in itself for churning out the most sought after style and most carefully applied make-up. It’s definitely a ‘look good or fail’ situation.

So with that in mind, and with make-up being my profession, here are just a few of my favourite beauty looks that caught my keen eye…

Award Winner: ANNE HATHAWAY

Anne Hathaway wowed the crowds with her stunningly chic look for this event. Wearing a white corseted basque and skirt, it seemed only right to team this outfit with perfect make-up. Her skin was as porcelain as a china doll with a perfect lick of colour on her lips and black eyeliner really draws her eyes out. She has beautiful features. Full lips, big almond eyes and great brows. So it’s no wonder Hathaway made it to the top of my Red Carpet beauty list.

What I love most about this look is the lack of blusher. Something so simple could potentially ruin a beautiful look. Less is definitely more in this instance.

 JESSICA ALBA

Jessica Alba has always been someone I follow where her make-up is concerned. Maybe it’s because she often dons the bold lip look.

With beautiful olive skin, dark eyes and golden highlighted hair such as her own, Alba can generally pull off any beauty look.

But with naturally gorgeous features, she keeps her eyes simple, using just lashings of mascara and a soft dusting of bronze shadow with her cheeks also brushed with a subtle flush of colour.

One thing that isn’t subtle but looks amazing on her skin tone is this matte shade of orange/red lipstick.

This is definitely the simplest way to make a statement with your make-up, with minimal effort. I’ve always been a fan of bold lips for this exact reason.

 KATE BECKINSALE

Kate Beckinsale works this smokey eye beautifully. Keeping the rest of her face simple, Beckinsale has fairer skin tones, and so notably has opted for a pinker shade of lipgloss and blusher, before drawing out her eyes with a dark bronze eyeshadow.

Kate has a lovely natural colour to her lips, this make wearing a sheer gloss much more do-able There’s nothing worse than looking washed out and if there’s one feature that can do this in a second, it’s pale, barely there lips.

On top of that, she hasn’t overdone the make-up on her eyes and if you notice, has used much of the colour underneath her eyes on the outer corners. Perfect for elongating your eye and enhancing their shape.

BERENICE MARLOHE

It’s not often you seen celebrities wearing a colour other than your earthy tones on the red carpet.

Natural shaded makeup is very safe. It’s safe because it works.

However, Marlohe has decided to break the mould a little and match her eyeshadow to her gown. Wearing a gorgeous deep blue lacy number, Berenice adds just the right amount of the same shade of colour to her eyes and for me, perfectly hits the right balance between braving the blue and smoking it up with a hint of black eyeliner.

To keep things picture perfect, she has kept everything else simple. Simple lips, subtle cheeks, perfect skin and beautifully full brows.

Just the way it should be done. Bravo Berenice!

HANNAH SIMONE

Firstly, LOVE the hair. Her fringe really frames her face and adds to this stunning old Hollywood make-up.

Hannah has gone for a simple top eyeliner, lots of mascara with a soft under line.

Hannah has gone for a more bronzed cheek and rightly so as it works so well with this deep deep red lips. This shade of red has more brown tones in it than any other, which makes it pop out beautifully against her chocolate brown eyes and hair.

It’s important when you’re wearing bold lips to keep your eyes understated and here, Hannah gets it just right! Especially teamed with this absolutely stunning silver vintage style dress. Another winner in my eyes!

MOLLIE & ROCHELLE FROM THE SATURDAYS

And here we are, two of our very own lovelies! Mollie and Rochelle from pop band, The Saturdays. In the bid to make it big in the US market, you might spot these ladies attending many ceremonies, events and on many high profile Red Carpets to win the Americans over. And so far so good I’d say.

With looks like this, you can’t got far wrong with a bit of traditional Hollywood glamour. The hair, the make-up even down to the diamond drop earrings make Rochelle a picture of perfection. Her siren red lips are the the only way to go when pulling this look together. Very Marilyn Monroe.

In contrast to that, Molly has opted for the smokey eyes and nude lips combo. Flawless skin, great contouring of the cheeks and beautifully drawn out eyes. Teamed together with a Jessica Rabbit style dress, these two beauties have got it just right. Well done girls, you’ve made us proud!

So there we have it. My favourite looks that were found on the ‘after-party’ circuit of the Golden Globes. There’s a look here that would suit any one of you! So give it a try and choose one for your next big night out!
