Hot luxury bag label, Buba, have teamed up with jewellery designers, Cabinet, for a second collaborative collection this coming A/W. Following the success of the first collaboration this season, Buba designers Euan McDonald and Lesley Silwood, joined forces with Cabinet designers, Gemma Critchley and Zara Braganca, to create an exquisitely beautiful collection of statement pieces, in line with Buba London’s handbag range.
Buba London prides itself on their unique brand image- intricately handcrafted bags and accessories, drawing inspiration from exotic cultural shapes, colours and textures. For S/S Buba London have some great pieces for the whole bright, pop colour trend, yet with their signature embellishments and beaded details, the trend is given a whole new take.
For A/W 2011, Buba have stepped away from the brightness and toned down to a gorgeous collection of neutral shades- ivory, soft gold and grey hues project a sophisticated and refined impression, with the trademark stones and embellishments adding that unique luxury quality, and more notably a sense of culture and travel.
The same attention to detail and intricacy is obvious in the ‘Cabinet For Buba’ jewellery range. For the collection, inspiration was taken from old Hollywood glamour in the 1940’s era, back when dressing up was all about being sophisticated, projecting a sense of luxury and wealth but without shouting about it.
Dark undertones of jet and violet are mixed with soft gold and creams, completely matching the line of bags and how the jewels emerge from soft fur stoles and antique vintage metals, ultimately defining the term: statement piece. What’s great about these pieces, like the bags, is that they can be worn as part of many different looks. Personally, I love the whole simple tee, ripped jeans and stand-out jems look, but the pieces can also obviously be paired with gowns and dresses for evening do’s.
Upon viewing the heavenly collection of stand-out gems in their beaded detail glory and glancing over the embellished bags and furs which each took over 3 days to complete in India, it’s hard not to imagine oneself dressed in full 40’s garb, clutch in one hand, fan in the other, regaling tales of travels to exotic countries at a jazzy dinner party.
