Think couture bespoke head dress imaginaries, I first spied the wonderful Tomihiro Kono creations in a Sunday supplement and was instantly hooked on these beautiful expressionistic pieces.
He started his career for 10 years as a hairdresser in Japan, whilst also working as an artist of which his work was produced in exhibitions, books, film and photography.
Many of his hairstyles were inspired by the 1920’s, 30’s, Dadaism and Surrealism art which then stemmed an urge to fit head dresses that complied with these genres as well as Assemblage (using found objects and creating structure in inventive dimensions)- he also adores the beauty in vintage (a man after my own heart!) as well as the environmental aspect.
Vogue has already used him on the cover as well as ID, Marie Claire, Zoot, Flux and Dazed. His pieces can range from Italian Renaissance to Crows and yellow birds, and he uses a mixture of feathers, antiques, jewellery, precious metals, spikes, flowers and even a masted ship has risen in one! He designs special head dresses and also maskesque creations for individuals, performers and singers ‘that are seeking to express themselves with strong originality’.

I most certainly highly recommend DESIGNER OF THE MONTH: TOMIHIRO KONO | ESVIE.co.uk to a lot of people which I are familiar with. Solid Job. -Bernice Callington – Fashions Fan
