When you receive a personal invite to view a designers collection before it’s even launched, you know you’re doing something right!

Me & Pierre Garroudi
That’s what happened to me last week. I received an email, personally inviting me to view Pierre Garroudi‘s latest collection at his London studio, before he launches it in September’s London Fashion Week!
So off I went to London Bridge to mosey through his collection in the hope to get a quick meet and greet of the man himself. Instead, I was lucky enough to be given a personal tour by him (a HUGE privilege considering there were others in the studio having to see themselves around)!!
When I entered the studio, what hit me was just how creative and inspiring the space was. Filled with pieces from his fashion collection, amazing artwork on the walls, one off lampshades that sheltered the lights alongside side many other amazing creations and other abstract pieces of art that he told me he likes to collect.
You don’t create or invent things… you discover them!
Pierre Garroudi, July 2010
Not only that, but Pierre was sat at his sewing machine creating what will only result in being a piece of art itself before coming over to greet me and do the deed of showing me around, including the past collections, stored in the back rooms.
Pierre told me that each collection he “discovers” is always based on one colour only. So far he has had black, orange, red, pink, white… with his latest being turquoise. The materials for each piece takes up to a month to manipulate and prepare before the intricate details even start! All his pieces are hand stitched, which seems to be the only way in order to get the finish he wants. The way these designs are made, leaves not only a visual piece of art to admire, but you are left wanting to touch them to really appreciate the textures and time that has gone into every individual design. A true genius that has opened my eyes to a new meaning of fashion!
Pierre will be showcasing his latest collection at London Fashion Week this September 2010 and I for one, cannot wait to see it! So keep your eyes peeled for more info here at ESVIE.co.uk…
