Elephtheria – Up and Coming Designer With a Difference

Elephtheria is an emerging Fashion Designer from the UK offering something quite unusual, especially from a new designer. Not only does she have the unique appeal that all her fabrics are sourced in the UK, as well as the garments being made here too but there is one little extra that shouldn’t be overlooked……customisation.

Yes ladies, that’s couture for you and not at the obscene prices you might expect from leading designers. Whether you’ve got a little bit of a fashion designer within you trying to get out or just because you know exactly what suits you, the service Elephtheria offers allows you to decide exactly how your dress might look!

I was lucky enough to meet Elephtheria and interview her about her plans for the future and what made her decide to take this approach to her work, here’s what she had to say!

Your clothing is vintage inspired with its fabrics, what made you decide to take this route when designing your collection?

I have always been inspired by Vintage prints, I love the use of colour and design. This is why I decided to design vintage inspired prints and incorporate them with modern designed clothing.

Do you think the vintage theme will continue through your future collections?

I feel that there will always be a vintage touch in my collection because I am highly inspired by the 40′s era, everything about it the fashion, furniture, fabrics etc.

Do you find it hard to compete with other designers who are more reliant on catwalk trends than you are?

No I think for a new business don’t look at competing with bigger brands, you look at offering something different to your customers so you get known for that unique service and they come back using this unique service.

What made you decide to offer the customisation options?

I am very particular with fit and the way clothes fit your body. I personally find it hard to find garments that look and fit well and so do a lot of my friends. Everyone have a different body shape and I always had the vision of having a business that offers a customisation and bespoke service over the internet.

Where do you see yourself going with Elephtheria over the next few years?

Firstly I would like to expand our clothing line to producing trousers and jackets and we are in the process of offering a customisation print service where customers can send in their own prints which they could have their garments made from.

What advice would you give to all the budding designers out there embarking on a career in fashion?

I would strongly advise to work in the fashion industry you should have an understanding of every aspect of producing and selling garments. Having the right contacts is also very important.

We will certainly be keeping an eye on what she gets up to!
