Well, here it is; our first glimpse of what can be expected from the artistic genii that is Lanvin. Creative director, Alber Elbaz and menswear designer, Lucas Ossendrijver have combined their talents with the designer heads at H & M to produce a new hybrid of high street-meets-luxury goodness. That’s right. On 23rd November, Lanvin’s first collaboration with the high street giant will be yours to buy in 200 stores worldwide.

Since 2001, Alber Elbaz has helped transform Lanvin, which was founded in 1889, into a Mecca of unique and luxurious cuts and materials. Until a few years ago, Elbaz has been a tad under-the-radar, so you could be forgiven for under-estimating his power a little. If you need an idea, think of today’s many trends- bows, ribbon and metallic embellishments- all of which were just a few of his visions that have gone on to have a global impact on what we wear.

Elbaz has in the past spoke of never doing a mass-market collection, however commented, “what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public.” So, it may not exactly be Lanvin, but a luxury H&M with a Lanvin twist sounds good enough to me.

The collection will be revealed on 2nd November, teasingly three whole weeks before the launch. Until then, you can wait in anticipation for an assortment of ruffles, lace, satin, and a general all-round misty overtone of gothic shades. All of the aforementioned mixed with Elbaz’s signature of perfect tailoring, intriguing cuts, oh and not to mention the H & M price tag, is sure to be one big winner of this year. Better start queuing early ladies; you’d be a fool to miss out on this one.
