This shot that you see has made a HUGE impact in the US for Jessica Simpson featuring on the front of Marie Claire with “No Makeup” whatsoever…I can believe this since you can tell there has been no contouring with makeup, that would usually re-shape her face, nose and lips to a degree (well, before the editor gets their hands on it at least!).

This is part of the ongoing campaign to raise awareness of what “Natural Beauty” is all about. No makeup and no touch ups. She’s not the only to take part in this battle to make people see the real person behind the computer generated image that we see all to often in magazines. Britney Spears has also allowed a release of her untouched images that were taken for fashion company “Candie”,  so that you can see the before and after effects of a finished shot that goes into our magazines.

This particular topic is very close to my heart as I really do believe that young girls see what they see in the magazines and don’t understand what work goes into these pictures! It can take HOURS to get a picture to look what is considered “perfect”… I used to be one of those girls until I entered the fashion industry. It soon opened my eyes!

I have recently just finished reading the award winning book, “Hungry” by Crystal Renn. A Plus Size Super Model that strived to become those images in the magazines, that led  to an eating disorder and unhappiness. She is now a very successful Plus Sized model because she listened to her body and realised that her natural size and beauty is what has made her the person she is today; happy, successful and healthy!
