So, here we have another peek at a truly talented emerging designer. This one’s not your usual cup of tea, either. Ever heard the phrase, “it’s all in the accessories”? Well, Lucy Jay literally defines that phrase with her new collection of beautiful, eye-popping scarves.
You may think you have seen beauty in scarves before, however your standards are bound to up to a brand new level after taking a look at these designs. With the mixture of so many different colours, both rich and muted, and the combination of many different patterns in her prints, Lucy Jay is breaking the boundaries of traditional scarf design. When wearing the scarves, they are so bold and brave, that they become the outfit themselves. This is a complete contrast to the average scarf which we are so used to seeing, utilised only to compliment or add a dash of colour to an already well made outfit. With Lucy Jay’s scarves, all you need is a base palette of neutrals, or even just one neutral, and when the scarf is added, voila! A new and unique look is born.
The power of her different and inspiring designs is on display, from a recent photo shoot. The images are shown on her blog, lucyjay.blogspot.com, and are simply of a gorgeous model, stripped down to nothing but a pair of nude knickers and her trusty Lucy Jay scarf. Through these images you can really see the beauty of her designs, and the exploration of the many different ways scarves can be worn, and interpreted. When speaking of the new collection and the photos, Lucy Jay comments, “I wanted to show a sexier side to my designs.”
The balance in the designs is also highly intriguing. Although the colours stand out and are varied, they don’t clash with each other, or at least in a bad way. The shapes and patterns themselves are also meticulously symmetrical, and each is finished with a monochrome border, helping to break up the colour slightly. The paint-splattered centre-pieces add a fresh, young tone to the sophisticated colour choice seen further to the edges of the designs. They are a perfect balance of sophistication and originality.
Lucy Jay is extremely passionate about scarves, and loves to see the same in her customers and many fans. Her designs are so adaptable that it is easy to see why anyone falls in love with them- they are an elegant yet are a completely unique twist to add to any outfit, whether casual or glamorous. They are also the epitome of luxury, made from the softest silk jersey materials. Lucy Jay’s inspiration is the goddess Cleopatra, the woman who conquered some of the most powerful men, and as Lucy Jay described, is kind to the eye, yet full of excitement. That is really the ultimate definition for her new collection; they are delightfully appealing to look at, however they are also nothing old, classic, or done-before.
